All That Glitters

Sportsgirl Disco Mini-Dress
Sportsgirl Frankie Dress

Sequins are becoming more and more popular in clothing. Slowly we are getting use to the fact that they can be worn by people other than five year old dancers. This trend has been adapted from the fashions of the 1920's and yes I am a big fan. Though if you are going to wear this trend you can't do it half heartedly. It only works well if it's a full sequined top or dress. It also has to be a simple style. If the piece of clothing is too intricate it will take away from the amazing detail of the sequins. The only thing with this trend is the cost. Both of these dresses cost quite a bit... between $200-$300! Probably because of the crazy amount of stitching involved. My favourite out of these two dresses is the aztec style printed one. The colours are brighter and lighter. Gives it more of a summery feel. Though I like the simple two strapped style of the second one. If I had the patience I would probably attempt to sew one but it would probably take me until next year and I think I've had enough of hand sewing for now.

Weekly Wish List: Straw Thing

A new post... yes what a shock! Sorry for the long time no post thing again... Exams take over pretty much everything but I promise that won't be happening for a while now.

Sportsgirl Casual Straw Sling
The first thing I think of when someone says straw is the matching little girls' straw hat and bag set. Overused, saggy and pink with a couple of fake flowers. But the new woven straw trend is a little bit more fashionable than that. The picture is of the bag but I didn't actually see the bag. I saw a wallet version which is what I am after. The colours don't quite work together which gives it a more of a hippy feel (besides the fact it's woven straw). My favorite part is the pattern. I haven seen much of it. Though I don't know how it would look in a piece of clothing but I definitely like it as an accessory piece. I think it could also work in favour of wearing hats in the summer. A nice woven straw hippy style hat could soon replace fedoras, something I would be quite happy with seeing as fedoras never worked for me. So I'm getting ready to embrace my inner hippy and wear this new woven straw trend starting with that wallet... hopefully...

Are you ready for the woven hippy trend or will you avoid it all together?

Summer Nails

When I went away recently, I was lucky enough to get a manicure and pedicure. My only problem was choosing the colour nail polish I wanted. It had to match the dress I was going to be wearing to the wedding and last until then. Luckily for me the dress goes with any colour... I may feature a photo of it later. When the lady was about to start painting, I was forced to choose. Somehow I managed to choose this colour and I'm glad I did. It's my new favorite. It's not a soft pastel or a colour block. It's just simple pink. It seemed summery and fresh. But I don't know if that's because it's up against my pale skin... The colour also somehow seemed to work well with everything. Not too overpowering. I seriously just love this colour. Thought I am yet to find the actual nail polish in this colour... so until then I am holding on the bits of this nail polish still clinging to my toe nails...

P.S sorry for the ugly foot model.

Weekly Wish List: Block Florals

Versace for H&M

Miranda Kerr, Harper's Bazaar November

This week's weekly wish list item isn't really specific. More just a print I would love to have in a piece of clothing. I don't really know what to call it other than block floral. It's sort of floral but it isn't really. It's more about the interesting prints and the bright colours. These photos are two of my favorite examples of the print. The first one is from the new Versace for H&M collection. I love the dress/leggings and the bright blues and greens. I also like the hint of gold in the jacket but I don't really like the leopard print in the jacket. The second one is from a photo shot in Harper's Bazaar. I love the print of the bra, it's more of a fruit salad style print but there is something about the skirt that I like the best. I think it's that the colours and the print are more of a Mediterranean style and are less bright but still stand out in their own way. The only thing about this print is I think it would only work well in real life on real people, if it were in a skirt. I would be casual enough to wear during the day and still work well at night. So now I am on the look out for this print in a skirt. This print has made itself one of my new favorites...

P.S I bought the Tie-dye Minkpink shorts... the ones featured in one of my earlier posts.

Pleated Shoes

Pleated Bootie Black

We've had pleated skirts, dresses, shorts, tops anything you could want in clothing really. But what about pleated shoes? I thought I'd seen enough of pleats for a while. But I love these shoes. When you think of pleats you usually think of flowy and girly but these shoes change that. They are totally different and I wouldn't call them girly. They aren't like anything I've seen. The lace up at the front and the peep toe work so well together. They can be worn in both winter and summer. Just how long they will be in fashion for is the only problem. So you're probably wondering where they are from... Well if you've read a few of my posts you'll be guessing either Minkpink or May. And if you are thinking that you must know me super well or be a mind reader because yes these beauties are made by the lovely people of May. To make them even better they are on sale with free express shipping.  From $249 to $125, they are a bargain. What I can't believe is that they still have any left.

Weekly Wish List: May be everything

Easy Singlet

Hamilton Dress- Blue Floral

Lyla Dress

Hamilton Dress

Hayden Dress
May's Summer 2011 collection, Two Hearts has definitely won my heart. I had trouble choosing which one I liked best. They have some great simple classic pieces and then the more modern pieces.  But I definitely like the blue floral print. It's featured through their collection and I think it's perfect for summer. It's not quite a floral print but more of a tie dye. Either way I like it much better than the over done colour blocking. Even though I love the blue floral print I can't forget the little black dress. I love the style of it but I am not too sure about the belt. I also love the white Hamilton dress. The top of the dress reminds me of a top I had when I was in primary school and I really like the different layers of skirt. Though by itself I think it would a bit childish so you would have to buy both the dress and the rose coloured top. Out of these couple of pictures, my favorite blue floral print item would have to be the Easy singlet and my favorite classic dress would be the white Hamilton dress (more white for me!).

Which one is your favorite?
