Weekly Wish List: Time

Nixon The Spur

In the title I said time. Really because it's coming to the end of summer and what comes with summer, endless holidays. The shops are bringing out their Autumn collections and school going back is just around the corner. So if possible please may some fairy somewhere gives us endless summer holidays. Cool thanks. The weekly wish list item in the picture can't give me time but it will at least help me tell it. I have been wanting a rose gold watch for a while now and there hasn't seem to be many around (or I just haven't seen them). Looking through an American magazine I saw a gold version of the watch and decided to look it up. Lucky for me it comes in rose gold. So much better. Though I don't know if I can get them anywhere in Australia yet. On line they cost a gazillion dollars... try around 300. Not quite what my budget will be willing to pay for a watch. I also want to know what the size looks like in real life. In the picture is looks big which is what I like. So until I find the watch in Australian land or at an affordable price, the weekly wish list is where is shall stay (sadly).

What do you think? Are gold watches in general suited better with the elderly? Or can they be cool?

I Heart You

First up, they are really dodgy photos but I just wanted to post them up even though I am uber tired. So that probably explains why they are terrible. The first two pictures ( if you can even call them that!) are of a necklace I crochet. I got the pattern from Pip Lincoln's book, Make Hey While the Sun Shines. I originally had no idea how to crochet and was going to teach myself from the book to make it for my mum's birthday. That was in November. I struggled to figure out how to do and eventually had to give in and get mum to teach me how to make her own birthday present... Two months late. It's not that it was even hard. Once I got the hang of it I had finished within a couple of hours. What made me really like it was that it's a bib necklace but it has the quirky touch of crochet. I also thought it was pretty cute that it was called, I heart you. The last picture is of my very own labels. I recently decided that I wanted to make labels to put on everything I make. So when I found a website that did them I was really excited and as of Friday, I now have them ready to sew onto everything. It's really hard to see what they say in the picture but it says the brand name, Olivia Ashley and then of course where they are made, Australia. I decided to keep the tag simple. So they background is a cream sort of colour and the writing is silver. Eventually they will be sewn onto everything that I have made... Hopefully that won't take two months...

Something Vintage

Vintage clothing seems to be very popular with a lot of people. Some can make their whole wardrobe from it but before this dress I had never tried it. It's not that I had anything against it, it's just I really didn't know where to start. So when I was invited to go look at newly opened vintage shop I was excited to give it a go. I didn't expect to find anything or if I did would have to mend it somehow. Though I did find this dress and luckily for me it fit pretty much perfectly. It wasn't cheap but I decided to buy it anyway. The shop owner also was dying to see the dress worn with a red scarf, to create a sailor look. So she nicely threw in the scarf though I decided to try it differently. On my head. Sort of turban like. It creates more of a hippy look. This dress also has a few cool secrets. First it looks like it's made from cotton but it's sort of  a terry towelling material and second it has some awesome hidden pockets. I love it because even though it is vintage (I don't know from what era!) it looks modern and almost any colour shoe or accessory matches with the navy and white. I also like the illusion it creates... It does make me look taller - Yay! I am yet to actually wear it but I think if I did, unlike this photo I would wear my hair tied up to show off the stripes more.

What do you think? Do you wear much vintage? Or do you stay away from second hand clothes?

Almost Kardashian

I have a million more amazing photos I could put up but I think I'll stop here. Who is she? Only a sister to the Kardashians and an amazing model. Though she doesn't share the Kardashian last name with her sisters, she is just as amazing. Her name? Kendall Jenner. I first came across her in photos from a modelling shoot she did for White Sands(3rd photo) but I didn't actually know who she was until the other day when I was watching an episode to do with the Kardashians. I'm not going to lie, I never really liked the Kardashians to begin with. They just seemed like any other cashed up family. Now I think differently. After watching the episode I found out who the amazing model was that I'd seen before hand and that I actually do like the Kardashians even if I am jealous of their bank accounts.  My favourite though (if you can have favourites) is Kendall. Mainly because she seems like such a nice person but also because of how stunning she is. She is the face of Forever 21 and has featured in Teen Vogue with her younger sister, Kylie Jenner. Besides all of that she has an awesome wardrobe and fashion sense to die for. She is definitely one to look out for... Watch out the younger sisters are taking over.
And one more photo... !

Weekly Wish List: Crop Top

Minkpink Black Swan Crop Top

I bet you're surprised to finally see a weekly wish list again! It may be late but it's here and here to stay. This week's weekly wish list item is sort of to go with the jumpsuit/overalls I posted about before. It's a crop top from my favourite, Minkpink. Though I don't like to call it a crop top. I think mid drift is a much nicer word for it. Unlike the model though I would layer it. In my case I think it's perfect for under my backless overalls because it doesn't completely take away the backless part but it covers enough. I also like that it's off the shoulders. It creates a different look compared to a top with normal straps. It would also go well under a sleeveless sheer top or it would also be great paired with a high waisted pair of shorts or skirt. I know it's a bit eighties but that's always coming back in right?

What do you think? Could it look good? Or should it stay in the past?

Here are some more photos of newspaper nails featuring the beautiful Nakiya! Has anyone else tried this yet? Or do you have any other awesome nail art tricks to share?

Overalls or Jumpsuit?

Wrangler Denim Jumpsuit

Once again I have jumped the gun and bought my weekly wish list item before I could write about it. I know weekly wish list was suppose to be yesterday but my days have started to blur and I can't tell my Sundays from Mondays or any day for that matter. If we were to pretend it were Sunday this would be my weekly wish list. I think they are overalls but everyone else thinks otherwise. I guess they are jumpsuit like but what makes me classify them as overalls is that they are denim. I love the fact that you can do so much with them. You can wear almost anything under it or be like the model and wear nothing at all! I also like that they can be worn over swimmers. I know you must be thinking after my country style bag that I must be turning hippy but I think it just comes with summer. With summer we are more carefree and so is our clothing. So I am going to embrace my inner hippy and wear my overalls all summer long...

What do you think? Are they overalls or a jumpsuit? And are they too hippy?

One of a Kind

In case you can't read it properly... Yes the T-shirt says call of the catwalk! I was lucky enough to have it made for me from New Zealand. As much as I am worried about wearing it because I don't like people knowing it's me behind the blog, I love it. When I do wear it though if anyone asks as far as I know it's a brand from New Zealand. Being white it matches with everything and it's the only one of its kind (just what I like). I also took these photos to show my newly dyed hair. I have now joined the brunette side. After being a red head for a while (thanks to the lovely Blake Lively) I decided to go almost back to my natural colour and try brunette. Now I've been blonde, red and now brown I can say which have more fun... I also wanted to show you how my new Mimco bag looks in real life. Which I don't think is not too country or Taylor Swift.

Nail It - One more time!

OPI Nail Apps, Steps

These little babies are the amateurs way of having amazing nail art. I can barely paint my left hand properly and only just managed to do newspaper nails with help, so of course you can imagine how excited I am about these. What are they exactly? Well they are nail stickers. These ones are by OPI and are called Nail Apps. And how do they work? You simply stick them onto clean nails and file off the excess. Easy as. There are heaps of them around but my favourite pattern is the one above. It's not a very good picture but I have seen them on someone and the colours are much brighter and they seem to blend a lot better. Though colour blocking seems to be lost forever these are an amazing example of colour blocking. They would also last longer than nail polish because they would be much harder to chip. I can't wait to try a pair... they are seriously perfect for summer.

A Little Mimco

Mimco Talitha Couch

This was going to be my wish list item for tomorrow but instead with a little convincing I bought it today! I am a little late on this trend but I had been wanting a long across the body bag and I just so happened to come across this Mimco one the other day.  Now I bet most of you are probably thinking that it was crazy expensive and out of all the wish list items I've had why did I choose this one? Well luckily for me it was on sale for $99 down from $249. Now that's a bargain if you ask me. I know it looks really cow girl like in this picture but in real life it's not that bad ( I will have to take photos of it when I actually wear it).  It also has a lot of fringing which I am just starting to get into ( I've taken my time I know!).  I also love the size of it. It's just big enough to fit my wallet with out it losing the whole idea of an across the body bag.  It's a little unusual which is another reason why I love it. I can't wait to use it...

What do you think? Too Taylor Swift?

Perm Again?

Rebecca Minkoff s/s 2012

Out of all the cool things I would love to be able to do with my hair a fuzzy perm like curl is not one. This could be because it reminds me too much of mine own hair but also how many people could actually pull off fuzzy hair? Besides these beautiful models and Serena Van Der Woodsen (even though hers is more of a curl) not many.  I think the whole idea behind the fuzzy perm is being a relaxed summery style. Something that can be worn to the beach but also out at a party. It's also much easier to maintain during a humid summers day when most people's hair goes frizzy anyway. I think I would like it a lot better if the curls were more defined rather than brushed out to look like some sort of animal tail. I don't think it will hang around long only because it would make people feel like they haven't done their hair at all even though it's taken effort.

What do you think? Do you like it? Will it be around for much longer?

Weekly Wish List: Sail Away

CottonOn Gilligan Flat

First off, Happy new year! In a way I'm a little sad to say goodbye to what has been a year full of some great memories but of course with the good there was the bad so I am excited for what will be an even better 2012.  So now for my first post of 2012... (!) This week's item of want is a pair of boat shoes. They are perfect for summer and a little different from a pair of flats or the good old slip on sneaker. I found a style of them that I really like from CottonOn. I love that it's made from suede and I especially love the fringing. Even though you don't see it is much fringing is still in fashion. I never really got into the fringing trend but why not start now with these shoes. The one problem I do have is choosing which colour.  As you know I am loving burnt orange right now but I also love the summery light blue. Then there is the plain grey which would be good so as to be able to continue wearing them into winter. The thing about this style of shoe though is some can look grandma like, so you have to be careful when choosing. If I can decide which colour I want I may just treat myself to a new years gift...

Which colour do you like best, if any? Do you even like the style of shoe?
