Eyebrows?

Lately when looking at photos of models, I've noticed something bizarre. I don't know if you would call it a trend or just another faze but having barely there or no eyebrows is definately something I wouldn't want to be seen sporting!
I can understand where the idea comes from. It makes your make up stand out and makes you focus more on the clothes rather than the models face but at the same time it can leave them looking washed out and sick.

It's not just the models who have been seen wearing this look! In BeyoncĂ©'s  new video, Who Run the World(girls) she is also donning the bleached eyebrows! But I think she was just to match her awesome new hair do.

What do you think about the barely there, no more eyebrow look?

  1. It's something which has annoyed me about the current trends, I guess looking at it more from the photography side of things. It actually follows quite closely with the overall direction which fashion has just gone in - very sleek, very cold, very emotionless in terms of the models - not necessarily the clothes. Hair is often very "hard" looking, straight lines and edges, it all looks very strict to me. I guess I go for a much softer style. The bleached eyebrows follows that "clean" and "emotionless" look I think because we show so much of our emotion with little, well, nuances with our eyebrows that we are not even aware that we are doing. In this sense the model becomes a "blank slate" for the clothes, which again I feel we are doing with the weight of the models - rather than accentuating their shape, we are making them have no shape. Anyway, a long, long discussion there.

Anyway I think I have read the whole blog now - I really like it - don't be embarrassed, you have found some really nice pieces of fashion and I love the stuff that you made, if you ever want photos taken of your stuff, I am more than happy to be your photographer. Keep up with it, you are looking at some great stuff and it's an interesting read.

Now, eye for an eye. http://samanthaharrisonfoliodev2.blogspot.com/ this is the blog from one of my classes where I developed a folio from my favorite fashion photographer's images. Please please please no comments cause it's a school blog and technically I am not meant to pass it on outside of CIT. But if you want you can have a look, it's a nice little folio very loosely based on fashion and people, not sure if you will like it but there you go. You might like to look at some stuff from the photographer (yes my fav fashion photographer of all time). Her name is Zhang Jigna online known as zemotion (for zero emotion). I think her work is really interesting and definitely worth a look when you have the time. If you really take the time to look through you will find some great stuff around Kimono's and a few things you have mentioned here. Plus it's stunning photography. Anyway here's a link to one set of the photos, I hope you like them. http://zemotion.deviantart.com/gallery/?catpath=/

    I'll shut up now.
