Not So Shorts

Minkpink Woodstock Tie-dye Slasher Shorts

Minkpink Woodstock Slashed Shorts

I love shorts and I love wearing them. But I am the worst at picking the right shorts or any shorts for that matter. I like the classic denim short but the only pairs I can seem to find are short enough show off my ovaries and that is nearly as bad as leggings as pants. So I decided that maybe something a bit different from classic denim would work and then I found these. Yet again Minkpink has won me over (I love pretty much everything of theirs but still). They wouldn't go with much and tie-dye isn't really that cool anymore but as crazy and eye-catching as they are, I really really really really like them. They look short in these pictures but the model has uber long legs and has practically pulled them up to her belly button. So I think they wouldn't be so short in real life... This time instead of discriminating against one colour, I like both the best. Though it would be nice to see what the front of the purple ones look like.

So have I picked the wrong shorts again? Am I getting there? Or have I finally got it?

Dakota and Elle Fanning

After seeing these photos in the latest Vogue, I couldn't help but compare them to Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen. Yes, I once was obsessed with those twins but now my attention has turned to these two sisters, Dakota and Elle Fanning. They have acted in quite a few movies but now they are more known for their style. Dakota modeled for Marc Jacobs new perfume, Oh Lola and Elle is not to far behind her... These two have really grown up since their Cat in the Hat days...

Weekly Wish List: Denim Bag

Diesel Divina Brave

You know how most of my wish list items never get bought... Well this one will definitely not be. Only because I don't have $440 to spend on a bag! (even if it is a really nice one) When I originally found it I thought it would be a cool school bag. I love my backpack and all but this is just a little bit cooler... only just. Though the one thing I am still not too sure about is the shape. I'm not going to lie, it looks like a beanbag. I have no idea if it will look like that in person but the model seems to pull it off very well. The other thing about this bag is it's great for denim on denim for someone (i.e me) that has uber amounts of trouble doing it. You could wear if with you jeans and you've done it. Denim on denim. I also thought I would include some photos from Diesel's campaign Diesel Island. There are seriously so cool!

They Made it

Minkpink Members Lounge Skater Skirt

They finally made (may be I just found) my dream skirt! If you can remember to a couple of posts back I was wanting a non-existing skirt. Today I think I found it. I know I said I wanted leather but after seeing these I didn't care. Though there is one problem... I can't decide which colour I like better. At first it was pink because yes I am one of those 'pink' girls but then I realised the champagne colour (they call it that, not me!) would go with a lot more. But I truly like the pink more. These aren't too expensive either... I am finally choosing good Weekly Wish List items... just two weeks later.

Which do you prefer, Pink or Champagne?

Weekly Wish List: Crochet Top

Dotti Free Love Crochet Tank

If you hate white you should probably stop reading right here. Yes, here. Because yet again I am posting about a white piece of clothing. Thought this one is a little bit more affordable.... Right now I am loving a bit of crochet or lace. But like most trends, only in small doses. I really like this tank top because you can wear any colour under it. In this case it's yellow but I would probably go for either white (OMG! white I know) or a deep blue/green. Though I don't like the pants worn with it in the photo. I think it would work better with something more fitted seeing as the top itself is a little loose. I like how the style of the top is kept simple making it easy to focus on the crochet print. It's a great piece for spring but if this summer is going to be better than last summer it will probably be too hot to wear on top of another tank. So may be crochet is only going to be sticking around for spring... ?

MSFW: The Shows

First off, don’t kill me please... I only forgot to bring my camera to both shows I went to! I was just too excited. Its OK I had an iphone to borrow. The pictures are quite dodgy, Sorry! I promise better ones from next year’s show.

Hello boys...

Jessica's collection

Jessica's clothes again...

These are the best of the photos. I know, not that great. Anyway I have to say the designer show wasn't too amazing. I loved watching it and the clothes were pretty cool but other than that the designer show didn't do much for me. The RMIT student show was by far the best. The clothes were interesting and this may sound crazy but the vibe was awesome. There was something about the RMIT show. May be it was that the students whose clothes were in the show were sitting front row cheering for their designs. The one collection that has stayed in my head today was by an RMIT student called Jessica (I can't remember her last name). The whole collection was made from wetsuit material and was fluro. There were spotted dresses and bright pants. It was really cool. Besides that my prediction for the next season are either really bright clothes or the complete opposite, muted colours. Most of the clothes in the designer series were basic with pretty dull colours though there were a few with hints of royal blue or light purples. Overall it was seriously amazing and I am so cranky that I didn't bring my proper camera to the shows! I am sure your ideas of the show are much better than photos anyway...

MSFW: The purchases

Long time no post, I know. Sorry! So Melbourne fashion week... It was amazing! I had a great time and went a bit crazy with the shopping. Though I did get some good purchases and yes I am sharing them with you. I finally found some formal shoes! They aren’t nude like I planned or snake skin like I wanted. Instead they are grey (the ones featured in the top two pictures). I know they don’t seem like they would go with a light pink dress but surprisingly they do and I promise, the purple is not seen.  I feel a bit guilty though because they were nearly twice the amount of my dress...
Ok so next pair of shoes. They are just some plan sandals I got for summer. The gladiator was not as popular last summer so I think it will be the same this summer. That’s why I like these pair of sandals. They’re part gladiator part woven and should hopefully be very fashionable. You may recognise the next purchase. Yes, it was one of my wish list items. Yes, it was the one I’ve wanted for ages. And yes, it was uber expensive.... But it was worth it.
The next purchase is some material. The fabric shop I bought it from was seriously so cool. So what am I going to make with them? Well with the purple material I am going to make a simple tank top style dress.  With the brown and pink spotted material I am going to make the pants I made before in the grey material... And lastly with the bright printed colour material I am going to make an awesome pair of swimmers. Hopefully... If I get the spare time.
Now for my very very very (26 days from today) early birthday present. My tiffany&co earrings. All I can say is I love them and I am very lucky to be the owner of them. Though when I first saw them I thought they were going to look too big on my ears but now I definitely disagree with that.
So for the last of my purchases. My sass&bide necklace.  It says ‘defend the people’ and it’s a little strange but that’s why I fell in love with it.  From far away it looks simple, so it suits me well as I don’t really like lots busy of jewellery.
That’s it for my purchases...  and in case you were wondering I am going to post about the show itself... when I get another spare 5 minutes.

Socks and Heels?

Sometimes they look amazing and others not so much. I'm talking about socks and heels. I don't really know what I think about this trend. See it looks great in magazine shoots and runway photos but something tells me that it wouldn't be the case in real life. I just love the look for some odd reason. It's pretty and feminine and Alice in Wonderland like. Though I do know I defiantly do not like knee high socks with anything. ever. and I don't like the thick woollen socks worn with with heels either. So if you were brave enough to try this trend you would have to go for light coloured and light material socks other wise you could risk looking like a school boy in heels... Just remember, socks and heels not socks and thongs. Socks and thongs could never look good (sorry!).

What do you think, socks and heels?
Because I am really considering trying it...

Weekly Wish List: A-line Mini Skirt

Tommy Hilfiger spring/summer 2011
I've had so much trouble actually finding an A-line mini skirt that is just right! So I thought I would have an example (a super expensive example) and just describe how I would want it, if it actually existed. So here I go... I love the style of the Tommy Hilfiger skirt above but I would love it more if it was leather and camel coloured. I guess the type of mini I want is less summery and more structured. But it would have have a few pleats at the top to make it sit a bit softer. This H&M skirt is pretty spot on but not quite. So I guess this is an even more ridiculous wish list item than usual because it doesn't even exist (yet). May be one day I'll find one, till then good luck trying to picture what my crazy mind is picturing!

H&M Leather skirt
P.S if you find one, I would love to know...

Your Jeans may be the Wrong Colour

I didn't like this trend the first time around and I still don't like it this time around. I've recently been seeing them everywhere and I don't know if they think they are colour blocking but someone should tell them, those jeans are not cool. I haven't quite figured out what it is exactly that I don't like about them. They just seem child like in a way. They are also very hard to pull off as they draw attention to your legs (der, they're bright), so they have to fit just right and skinny jeans and seriously one of the hardest to find the right shape. I am all for camel, maroon or khaki jeans but it's the bright coloured ones just don't work for me.
